Hey everyone!
Eva has successful, and smoothly, made the transition to her big girl bed. We started with the mattress and box spring on the floor all last week and last night added the frame, headboard and footboard. She LOVES her new big girl bed because then she is like her favorite book idols, "olivia", "fancy nancy", and a princess.
We found this bed at a consignment shop when we were just entertaining the idea of a bed for her. I had a specific idea in mind of an ornate wrought iron bed, but anything in a catalogue was WAY WAY out of our price range. I figured I'd scour some antique and consignment shops until I found something. No big hurry. Well, the first place I walked into had it and it was a steal! Almost daylight robbery! It was black though, so our Big Daddy painter extraordinaire Trey did an AWESOME paint job on it. He did an antique off white and then went through with a gold rub and made it more "shabby chic!" The pics don't do it justice. It turned out even better than I had hoped. I'm so proud of him! Furthermore- I found the bedding on sale at Target! So fun! Trey's next project is a cornice for the window that he started carving on a while ago. I think Trey really is enjoying having some projects that he can execute his skills on and complete within a quick time frame.
So here are some pics of the bed! And the big girl in it! She put her dress on after we assembled the bed in her room and told us "It's Party Time!!" :)
