Father's Day/Great Wolf Lodge

This year we celebrated Father's Day by making Daddy KING for a DAY! Aunt Melissa gave us the cool idea of making a crown for Daddy to wear all day adorned with pics of his biggest fans. We also made a cake in the shape of a crown and a big banner. Daddy said he feels like the "King of the Lawn" with his Shiny New Red Lawn Mower!!

We continued our celebration with an overnight stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. This was lots of fun for all of us. The picture below is of our room which was almost as cool as the indoor water park.

Hayden's 7th Birthday

For Hayden's 7th Birthday we celebrated with a fun Golf "Par-Tee"! The kids had lots of fun! We're so blessed to have such a wonderful, sweet, fun loving, kind, happy son!

For his party we spent half the time at our house, first eating a fun dinner of everything shaped like balls. Then had cake and opened presents and moved the party over to the mini golf course down the street. He was able to chose 7 of his school buddies his age to celebrate with. Uncle and Megan were there too and we all had a Fabulous time!

Baseball madness

We're full on into both boys baseball seasons, which between practices and games is easily 4 nights a week this month. We're having lots of fun. Hayden's playing well and here are some pics of our guy and the family enjoying a fun Friday night at the ballpark.

Hospital Hill Half Marathon

Trey and the kids came out to downtown KC to watch Jane run the Hospital Hill half marathon. There is a reason the two words "Hospital" and "Hill" are in the name of the race. It was a tough one, but so fun! It couldn't have been better running weather. We all spotted each other at about mile 12 of the 13.1 mile race. Perfect timing to give mommy that excitement to kick it into high gear and finish the race! Jane clocked in at 1 hour 57 min and finished in the top 25% of her age group!

BIG BOY BIKES!

We ditched the training wheels! It was such a cool experience. The boys didn't have a whole lot of interest in riding their bikes last year so we didn't push. This year though, we all felt like it was time to grow this skill. The minute Hayden hopped on his old bike, we knew that he had outgrown it and ventured out to Toys R Us for a new bike for Hayden. Well, he hopped right on that bike in the store and started riding the 2 wheelers with very little assistance! In fact, Hudson was so determined to get Daddy to get him a bike too that upon Daddy's challenge to show us (at home) that he could learn to ride Hayden's new 2 wheel bike, he just hopped right on it in the store and showed us there was no need to wait. Two excited little boys, rode their very own 2 wheel bikes right out the door and around that parking lot for the next hour. It was a wonderful, and joyful night!

Hayden was super excited!!
There goes Huddy....See if you can catch up Dad...

Eva's First Dance Recital

You can imagine how excited I was to have my daughter in her first dance recital! She did such a great job on stage. She loved the makeup, the costume, the lights, and even danced in the aisles between performances. A star is born!!

This was her ending pose. Now, I realize that no one is doing the same thing... but Eva was more interested in the big girls watching the show from backstage than her posing.

2nd grade...here we come

Time flies... when did our little guy Hayden turn into a Second Grader? Here he is on his last day of school! He'll be turning 7 soon, so on his last day, we brought in some fun cupcakes to celebrate his summer birthday with his class. He loved 1st grade and learned so much! Thanks Mrs. Johnson!

Hudson Graduates Preschool!!

It's official. He's a Kindergarten Kid! Where did the last 5 years go?

Fruits and Vegetable Stand

For several months now, Hudson has been begging me to do a fruit and vegetable stand for poor people. For those of you that know Hudson, its no surprise that his little mind came up with that idea all on his own. On our first really nice day this summer, I finally gave in and helped him set it up. He was very excited and proud. He raised $5.40, which we donated to Living Water International, his chosen cause. You can check it out at www.water.cc

Husdon's first Coach Pitch Baseball Season

Hudson was excited to start playing some real baseball this season now that he's graduated from T-ball. He got real cozy playing catcher... resting his little arm on the coach's leg casually as he waited for the ball to roll on by. Too much! I'm sure it will be a fun filled, action packed season! First, we will work on teaching him to avoid doing the 360 degree turn after each swing and miss. We'll keep you posted...

Kids and clips

We've been having lots of fun this spring. Every parent says it, but its so amazing at how they grow. Sometimes its hard to see your babies grow up, but I also find it so exciting to see them change and grow into little people. Below is a favorite snapshot of each kid and a fun video clip of each of them recently.

Starting with our eldest Hayden.

He is quickly approaching 7 and has expressed an interest in piano lessons. We've borrowed our neighbor's keyboard (thank you Niesen family!) and he's played it every night since. He's even composing his own music...

Hudson just started his first season of "real baseball" or coach pitch. He managed to break focus his first game enough to tell me "MOM... you're distracting me. This is embarassing!" from the field as I was taking pictures! What a character. Don't worry, baseball hasn't taken away too much time from his lego creations.
This is a video clip of him sliding into "home"....well, almost. :)

Then there is Eva the Diva.

She is all of 2 going on 22. If she hasn't already told you herself, her favorite color is PURPLE! Typically the next word out of her mouth after that is "Purpulicious!" I swear I did not coach her to do this. I'm thinking we will work on her humility next as whenever we go somewhere and people tell her "Oh, your so pretty" her reply is most always "Tank You....I Gorgeous!"

Kansas City Zoo

Hayden's first grade class field trip this spring was to the KC Zoo. All 5 of us accompanied the class and we had a great time seeing the animals together! Below is a picture of Hayden with his super special teacher and family friend, Mrs. Johnson!

Huddy and Daddy ready to see the animals!

The animals were in their natural habitats rather than cages, so we got some up close images!
